Manual Lymph Drainage Courses & Events for 2012

BASIC - Certified Training and Tuition in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (Dr Vodder Method). This is a post graduate course and requires a recognised certificate in Anatomy and Physiology. It is open to Nurses, Physiotherapists, Physical Therapists , Osteopaths, and qualified experienced Massage Therapists. 40 hours (Practical 32 hrs, Theory 8 hours) - Certificate of attendance given. No Exam at end of this module.

THERAPY 1 - The practical sessions of this course include special techniques for the joints, the head (including intra oral) and deep abdominal work. They introduce the student to therapeutic applications. A review of all Basic techniques and sequences is given. In the theory sessions advanced theory and current research is discussed as well as a review of basic theory. An oral, written and practical exam is given on the last day to test the student’s competence in basic techniques and theory. 40 hours (Practical 32hrs , Theory 8 hrs) - Exam in both theory and practical work at end of module .

AESTHETICIAN ADVANCED, NECK & FACE - Designed to broaden understanding of the lymph vessel system and to introduce therapeutic techniques, Advanced Neck & Face focuses on the treatment of conditions such as acne, rosacea, pre and post cosmetic surgery, congestions and general skin rejuvenation. (20 hours).

THERAPY II & III - .Successful completion of the Therapy I exam enables the student to continue to these final two courses which are taught consecutively. They are taught usually in two 5-day segments with a weekend break between. The course covers various pathologies with an emphasis on lymphedema treatment in the context of Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDT).

Germany Földi Courses

This course is open to physicians, nurses, physiotherapists and massage therapists. Practical and written examinations are held at the end of the course.

Földi Klinik, Hinterzarten, Germany

This English-speaking MLD/CDT certification training will be held at the Földi Klinik in Hinterzarten, Germany and is available to healthcare professionals from around the World. Among other topics, this course will cover the anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of the lymphatic system, basic techniques and sequences of MLD (Vodder technique), indications and contraindications of MLD and CDT, treatment sequences for primary and secondary lymphoedema, lymphoedema bandaging techniques for upper and lower extremities, remedial lymphoedema exercises, hygienic skin and nail care for lympoedema, measuring and fitting techniques for lymphoedema support garments, patient evaluation and weekly measuring (circumference and volume), home maintenance and self-treatment for lymphoedema.

Classes are offered in collaboration with Klose Training and Consulting of Red Bank, New Jersey, USA. This company will be dealing with the administration (course material, registration, payment etc). The classes will take place in Hinterzarten. UK Casey-Smith Courses

Dates for Casley-Smith Courses at the De Berekeul College for Lymphoedema Therapy, Amsterdam, Holland

Courses teaching the Casley-Smith method of MLD for lymphoedema are also being provided at Cookridge Hospital, Leeds and Nightingale House Hospice, Wrexham. It is hoped to provide more details shortly.
